It’s a journey oscillating between the Caribbean and Britain, swayed by a symphony orchestra, rocked by world percussions, and vibrating to the sound of soul-stirring voices. These original compositions, featuring 3 singers and 2 world percussionists, merge traditional orchestral music with Caribbean influences from composer Serge Sainte Rose’s native Martinique and across the wider region.
This vibrant musical odyssey, performed by the Covent Garden Sinfonia, is both a bridge between different cultures and a reflection of Sainte Rose’s personal story, from growing up in the West Indies to living in Europe.
From Britain To The Caribbean And Back will be premiered at St John’s Smith Square, one of London’s premiere classical music venues, on the 7th October 2022.
